The Ministry of Youth and Sports has given a breakdown of how they paid $3.5 million to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) for the coverage of the 2023 Africa Games.

This comes after a release from GBC stated that they only received &105,000 for the Africa Games and the statement from the Sports Minister that they received over $3 million came as a surprise to them.

However, according to the statement released by the Sports Ministry, they paid $3.5 million to GBC for the broadcast of the 13th Africa Games in three trenches.

“From the total amount, $2.5 million was paid directly to GBC in two trenches. $1 million and $1.5 million on 13th March 2024 and 22nd May, 2024, respectively.”

“Another amount of $1 million was paid to third parties upon the instructions of GBC in accordance with the contract,” part of the statement read.
