Actress Xandy Kamel discloses why the movie industry is broke

Controversial actress has disclosed that the movie industry in Ghana is broke due to greed and cheap labour. She also stated that upcoming actresses are living fake lives.

Xandy was a guest on e.TV Ghana’s ‘The Late Nite Celebrity Show’ where she was asked whether or not she has made enough money form acting.

“Enough in terms of money form acting, there’s no money in acting.
I always say that the senior colleagues like Mcbrown, Jackie, Majid have paid their dues. They’ve been in it for 15 to 20 years and most of them are brand ambassadors so they depend on those deals thus having no problems. For those of us who have now decided to take it up as careers, I don’t understand. Every two minutes someone is starting a new company, how do they get the money?” she quizzed.

She believes that her young colleagues in the movie industry live beyond their means and that inhibits genuine help that would have come their way.

“They live above their means so when they’re broke they can’t come out to ask because most of the fans out there can actually feed us and feed our families,” she said.

“Some of them look at us from afar and would have liked to helped but they have decided that they would big photo shoots, go on red carpets, wear extravagant dresses and travel with first-class flights so they get the impression that we have and decide not to help them,” she added.

The host Foster Romanus further asked if these actresses living the supposed fake lives do so to attract good business deals.

“I think being myself gets me the deals. I got a free visa to Europe and on my return, there was a Dubai visa wait for me, I even have to travel next week to another country. Being yourself and being truthful about your true situation gets you help and loyal fans and followers so if you find yourself in a fix, it’s very easy for you to go out there to seek for help,” she revealed

“Due to this attitude they are unable to come out to seek for help when they are sick and they become a burden on their families,” she added.

She further revealed that the industry is broke due to greed and cheap labour.

“There’s no money in the industry because of greed and exploitation. People would rather go for cheap unprofessional labour than paying for professionalism. There’s also the issue of division in the industry, she said.
