President of the Ghana Fencing Association, Mohammed Mahadi has donated fencing equipment to the Ghana Education Service (GES) Physical Education Unit to be sent to the various Senior High Schools in Ghana to help to promote the sports.

The equipment which include;

4 EPEE MASK
2 BREST GUARD
7 INNER LAME
7 TOP JACKETS
2 SABRE BLADES
7 BREECHES

This donation will also help to encourage the schools coaches to do more to help the development of the students.

Mr. Emmanuel Yao Dormenyah, who is the Director of Physical Education and Sports Unit, received the equipment and promised to facilitate all the necessary arrangement to introduce fencing into senior high school national sports festival.

“This equipment will help to improve the performance in our schools though, we have it in our schools but it’s very limited and also we don’t have equipment for our coaches too, so with this equipment we will hand over to the schools so that they start practicing it, because of this next year I will add the fencing activities to the senior high school national sports festival so that all the other regions will have feel of it so that very soon all our schools will take part in fencing events as I promised him.”

Mr. Yao, who doubles as coordinator physical education schools and sports program, appeal to the association to do more in term of equipment because most of the schools don’t have equipment to try their hands on it

“I will also appeal to the association to bring more equipment so that if any school show interest to take part in fencing event we can supply them the equipment.”

The president of Ghana Fencing Association (GFA), Mohammed Mahadi, assured he will use his role as vice president of the African Confederation of Fencing (ACF) to promote the development of the sport in the country.
