eTV Ghana and Japan Motors donate to the Ghana Blind Union (GBU)

e.TV Ghana, in partnership with Japan Motors and Run Ghana has donated sets of jerseys to the Sports Association of the Ghana Blind Union (GBU) on Monday, 13th January,2020.

This event was in honour of its commitment to donate a part of the proceedings made from the 9th edition of the eTV Ghana/Japan Motors Corporate Run which took place in September, 2019.

Each year, part of the proceeds from the e.TV Ghana/Japan Motors Corporate Run go to the Ghana Blind Union after consorting with the Union to ascertain what the organization will need. Per the discussions had with the GBU Sports Committee and the Secretariat this year, e.TV Ghana and Japan Motors donated a total of thirty-six (36) jerseys for three regional teams of the Ghana Blind Union Volley team.

The Executive Director of the Ghana Blind Union, Mr. Peter Obeng Asamoah expressed his gratitude for the profound gesture by e.TV Ghana and Japan Motors.

“e.TV and Japan Motors have consistently supported the Ghana Blind Union. We as blind people have realized our potential in sports and we thank e.TV Ghana and Japan Motors for giving us this opportunity. We will run, play and excel with these jerseys”, he said.

The CEO of Global Media Alliance, Mr. Ernest Boateng revealed that e.TV Ghana and Japan Motors were able to fulfill their promise of increasing their donations from Gh₵ 5.00 to Gh₵ 7.00 per each registration. He also added the Ghana’s Ambassador to China, H.E Edward Boateng heavily supported this project with a sum of GHC 2000.00.

“Aside these donations, e.TV Ghana supports the blind in employment. Paul Anomah Kordieh who has been with e.TV Ghana for the past 10 years is the only blind presenter in Ghana”, he added.

As his closing remarks, Mr. Ernest Boateng encouraged the general public and the Ghana Blind Union to participate in the upcoming Family Fun Run slated for the 6th of March, 2020 to support the Blind Union.

Speaking at the event, Director of Lakeside Estates and Events Director at Run Ghana, Mr. Salah Kalmoni expressed his happiness to be associated with the Ghana Blind Union and expressed his commitment to helping the Ghana Blind Union.

“We promised to increase our donations this year and we have gladly done that. We are committed to helping GBU and we encourage all to also do so”, he stated.

Programmes Manager for e.TV Ghana, Mrs.Nosisa Doe in speaking about the motivation behind e.TV Ghana’s support to the Ghana’s Blind Union stated that the Corporate Run held each year is not just a run but “a form of inclusion for the society to thrive”. She extended her gratitude to GBU, Run Ghana and Japan Motors for partnering with e.TV Ghana for the last ten years.
