The Vice Chairman of the National Planning committee for the 5th All African Music Awards (AFRIMA), Nana Anim, has expressed confidence that Ghana stands to benefit immensely as the host of the event for the next three (3) years.

According to him, the event will market Ghana to the international world through music. He reiterated that the event is in line with government’s objective to develop sustainable tourism pivoted on Ghanaian arts and culture.

Mr. Anim revealed that 125 musicians from the African continent and other parts of the world are billed to arrive in the country for the AFRIMA awards.

“Ghana will benefit largely from hosting this event. Currently, we have confirmed 125 musicians for AFRIMA event, from all over Africa. The African Union (AU) will send a delegation to attend the event. Both international and local media will be in attendance to cover the event,” Mr Anim told Happy FM in an interview on ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show.

Touching on preparations towards the event, Nana Anim stated that “we ready to host AFRIMA in style with support from both government and private sectors such as Tour Operators, Hotels, Car Rentals and other transport service operators as musicians both in Ghana and beyond.”

He called on Ghanaians to support in the upcoming event to help showcase Ghana’s culture and warmth. “The AFRIMA program of events provides the opportunity for Ghana to showcase the unique artistic, tourism and economic potentials Ghana,” he added.

AFRIMA event is slated for November 21st to 24th, 2018. Activities for the four (4) day event include Nominee’s Party, Africa Music Business Summit, AFRIMA Music Village, City Tours and Main Ceremony Awards.

AFRIMA is rated as one of the biggest award shows on the African continent. The event will also bring together past AFRIMA nominees and winners, music professionals and executives, creative/culture industry policy makers, members of the media industry and other award-winning recording artistes living in Ghana and in other African countries.
