Coronavirus Outbreak: Lockdown before situation gets worse - Bureau of Public Safety

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, has announced that movements in some urban areas in the country will be restricted from Monday for two weeks, as part of government measures to control the spread of the coronavirus.

The lockdown affects areas in Accra, Tema, Kasoa and Kumasi, where significant numbers of infections have been recorded.

Delivering his fourth national televised address on the state’s anti-coronavirus strategy on Friday evening, President Nana Akufo-Addo said, “beginning from 1:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, the lockdown will restrict the movement of people for a period of two weeks subject to review”.

Below are the list of the areas under lockdown:

Greater Accra Region

Ledzokuku krowor
Adenta
Ashiaman
Madina
Dade kotopon
Okailwei
Ablekuma north west centeal
Ayaywaso north west east central
Ga west north central south east
Korle
Weija
Kpong
Awutu senya east

Ashanti Region

Kumasi
Asomwa
Suame
Old tafo
Oforikrom
Asokore mampong
Kwadaso
Atwiman
Kwabre east
Ejisu
Afigya
Bosomtwe
Atwima

Every resident must stay at home for 2 weeks. If you must go out you can only go and get food, bank, access health services or other important stuff.

Trotro and taxis must reduce the number of passengers and observe hygiene protocols.
