The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced an enhanced partnership with betPawa, extending its popular Locker Room Bonus initiative to the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League for the 2025/26 season.
Previously exclusive to the betPawa Ghana Premier League, the Locker Room Bonus rewards players who feature in the matchday squad of winning teams with GH₵400 each. The initiative is aimed at boosting player motivation and providing immediate financial incentives for strong performances.
The official announcement was made at a ceremony on Friday, attended by GFA officials, betPawa executives, club representatives, stakeholders, and the media.
GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo described the expansion as a landmark moment for women’s football in Ghana.
“This is a clear statement that women’s football is a priority, and we are committed to investing in its growth,” he said.
Borah Ndanyungu, betPawa’s Head of Local Marketing & CSR, said the company was delighted to broaden the initiative, stressing its commitment to enhancing professionalism and excitement across Ghana’s football ecosystem.
Captain of Women’s FA Cup champions Faith Ladies, Beauty Abena Julius, speaking on behalf of Women’s Premier League players, praised the move and expressed gratitude to both the GFA and betPawa for the support.
BetPawa is expected to invest approximately $380,843 (about GH₵4 million) into the Locker Room Bonus for both the men’s and women’s leagues during the 2025/26 season. The Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League kicks off in October, with the bonus set to take effect from Matchday One.
