The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and successful protest by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) today, Tuesday, September 17. The NDC’ nationwide demonstration currently underway is to express its discontent with the Electoral Commission’s (EC) handling of the voter’s register, specifically citing concerns about its accuracy and the need for a forensic audit.

Director of Public Affairs for the Ghana Police Service, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi addressed the media at Obra Spot in Accra, reassuring the NDC and the general public that the Police Service is adequately prepared to provide security and protection for all protesters.

The Police Service’s assurance comes amid concerns about potential disruptions or violence during the protest. However, ACP Ansah-Akrofi emphasized that the Police are well-equipped to handle any situation that may arise.

As the protest gets underway, the Police Service’s presence is expected to provide reassurance to protesters and the general public. The Ghana Police Service’s commitment to maintaining order and ensuring public safety will be crucial in facilitating a successful protest and upholding the democratic rights of all citizens.
