The government has allocated an additional GH¢3 billion for the completion of the revised three-tier Suame Interchange, Roads and Highways Minister, Governs Agbodza, has confirmed.
The project was scaled down from a four-tier design to a three-tier configuration due to excessive compensation costs and urban disruption.
The revised design aims to preserve businesses and reduce demolitions, allowing the government to invest savings into improving the wider road network in Kumasi.
The Suame Interchange project is part of efforts to address traffic congestion in Kumasi, Ghana’s second-largest city. The project is expected to be completed within 36 months.
