Government will today unveil one of its most significant tax overhauls in recent years, with Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson expected to announce a cut in the effective VAT rate for businesses as part of the 2026 Budget.
The budget presentation, scheduled for later today in Parliament, will also introduce a major review of Ghana’s tax laws a reform package analysts say could amount to a full-scale reset of the country’s tax system.
Strong indications suggest the government will abolish the COVID-19 Levy, a measure long criticised by businesses and consumers.
According to checks by Happy Morning Show’s Kwadwo Sefah-Danquah the reforms are designed to simplify the tax regime, reduce compliance costs, and improve revenue mobilisation.
