Member of Parliament for Bantama, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has distanced himself from a man identified as Emmanuel Ofori, who has been arrested by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for allegedly defrauding Ghanaians under the pretext of offering government scholarships.
In a post on his official Facebook page, the MP stated emphatically that he has no connection with the suspect or his activities.
“I don’t know him, and I have no association whatsoever with his operations,” he said.
Mr. Asenso-Boakye disclosed that the suspect was found with a fake driver’s licence bearing his name, confirming reports that fraudsters have been using his identity to deceive people with promises of scholarships and recruitment into the security services.
He cautioned the public against falling victim to such scams, stressing that he does not offer scholarships or jobs through private or social media channels.
“Please stay vigilant and ignore anyone claiming to represent me. Let’s expose and stop these fraudsters,” he urged.
