One person is dead with scores of players and officials injured as the team bus of Kumasi Asante Kotoko got involved in a gory accident near Nkawkaw Wednesday night.
The team was on their way to Kumasi following their 1-0 loss to Inter Allies in their match day 22 game in the Ghana Premier League.
Chairman of the club’s supporters wing, K 5 has confirmed the accident to Happy FM and corroborated that Thomas Asare, an equipment Officer of the team, has passed on.
“I’m very devastated and it’s heart-wrenching. We were coming from Accra and at Nkawkaw, our driver was over-taking and while getting back into the lane, rammed into the back of a KIA truck which had broken down and was left in the middle of the road. We lost Thomas Asare and Coach Steve Pollack’s leg got broken. In fact the driver, Godwin Abblodey and Steve Pollack were trapped in the bus for over one hour ,” Chairman K5 told Happy FM.
Players like Saddick Adams, Amos Frimpong, Isaac Amoako, Augustine Sefa and Baba Mahama among others sustained various degrees of injury.
