President-elect John Dramani Mahama, has outlined his plans as he prepares to assume office in January 2025.

Mahama attended a victory rally organized by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the party’s administrative office in Catomens, accompanied by his wife, Lordina Mahama, and his running mate, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman.

Addressing the large crowd of supporters and party representatives, Mahama expressed gratitude for the efforts of party members and executives in ensuring his return to power after his defeat in 2016 to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party.

Speaking on the state of the nation, Mahama emphasized the need for a national reset, explaining that he answered the call to make this possible. He pledged to bring meaningful change for the benefit of all Ghanaians. “Every vote that was cast in this election carried the same weight. Every vote also carried a hope in the future of our country. I promise you that I will assemble and lead a government that will carry the weight of those hopes and dreams, whether you voted for me or not, because every victory is a victory for the people of Ghana,” he stated.

He added, “Let us witness a brief celebration, for the weight of office will be an onerous one. Expectations of Ghanaians are very high, and we cannot afford to fail them.”

Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman also addressed the gathering, highlighting that the NDC’s victory was a collective effort by all Ghanaians. She noted that this victory signaled a new approach to governance, particularly with Ghana electing her as its first female Vice President.

Mahama used the occasion to unveil his bold 120-day agenda aimed at setting Ghana on a transformative path. He explained that these policies would signal his administration’s commitment to addressing the nation’s pressing needs and demonstrating a dedicated approach to governance under the John-Jane leadership
