The Madina astroturf in the La-Nkwatang Municipal Assembly of the Greater Accra Region is gradually taking shape as the contractor, Wembley Sports Company has vowed to meet the deadline for the construction.
The artificial turf is one of the flagship programmes of the Ministry of Inner City and Zongo Development (MICZD) headed by Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina constituency also in the Greater Accra Region.
The Madina artificial turf forms part of the construction of two other artificial turfs in the Kyebi area of the Eastern Region and Walewale in the Northern Region.
A tour of the facility in the Madina over the week end indicates that the facility is gradually coming alive as planned by the Ministry.
The company working on the project has so far constructed four of such artificial pitches at Kotobabi, Dzorwulu, Accra Academy and Nungua all in the Greater Accra Region.
The contractor has begun laying the carpet to pave way for the mounting of the poles among others.
The construction of the artificial turf in the municipality has changed the way athletes view artificial turf in the country.
Speaking after a tour of the facility in Madina, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WSC, Robert Coleman said the company is on course to meet the deadline for the inauguration of the artificial turf in the municipality.
According to him, the company has the capacity of managing the facility even after construction to enhance its life span.
He stressed that the company is dedicated to its vision and intent to enhance the health status of all its clients by creating artificial turfs for exercising.
The former on the Project Alex Anim Boateng also told the media that the demolition of all illegal structures have begun to give the project the needed beautification.
He said with the demolition of the illegal structures on the park residents in the environs of the park will now see the beauty of the project.
He said the first phase of carpets spreading has begun and very soon the final stage of carpet spreading will be completed.
This, he said will lead to the people seeing the beauty of the project in the municipality to kick start the completion of the project.
