President John Dramani Mahama has emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming Ghana from a raw material-exporting economy into one driven by value addition, manufacturing and exports.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Tema Integrated Industrial Park (TIIP), President Mahama said Ghana must process more of its natural resources locally to create jobs, facilitate technology transfer and build sustainable national wealth.
He noted that moving beyond the export of raw materials is essential to strengthening the country’s industrial base and ensuring greater economic benefits for Ghanaians through increased local production and value addition.
The President explained that the Tema Integrated Industrial Park is a key component of the government’s 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, which seeks to expand the country’s industrial capacity and unlock its full economic potential.
He expressed confidence that the project would support Ghana’s industrialisation agenda by attracting investment, boosting manufacturing and creating employment opportunities while positioning the country as a competitive export-oriented economy.
