In a captivating international friendly match held at the Bank of America Stadium, the Black Stars of Ghana showcased determination but ultimately succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Mexico. This encounter marked the first of two friendly matches scheduled during the October international break, pitting the West African national team against their Mexican counterparts.

Despite Black Stars’ head coach, Chris Hughton, fielding a formidable starting lineup, victory eluded the Ghanaian squad. The first half of the game saw an intense battle, with Ghana matching Mexico blow for blow, captivating spectators and keeping them on the edge of their seats.

As the first half ended without any goals, the deadlock was finally broken in the second half. Mexico’s star attacker, Hirving Lozano, seized the moment and netted the opening goal in the 57th minute. Later in the match, substitute Uriel Antuna displayed remarkable skill with a clever finish, securing a satisfying 2-0 victory for Mexico as the final whistle blew.

This match marked the first loss for Coach Chris Hughton since assuming the helm of the Black Stars. The friendly served as valuable preparation for Ghana, gearing up for the upcoming qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be held in Ivory Coast.
