The Member of Parliament for Pru East, Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has expressed satisfaction with the Interior Ministry’s swift intervention to reduce the rising spate of armed robbery attacks along the Yeji-Kumasi highway.
The highway has become notorious for criminal activities, with robbers frequently targeting commuters. Just days ago, one such attack claimed the life of a young man, intensifying concerns among residents and travelers.
Raising the issue on the floor of Parliament, Hon. Kwaku Boam questioned the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, on what specific measures the Ministry was implementing to address the situation.
In response, the Interior Minister revealed that the Ministry has deployed over 50 security personnel to the area. He also announced the deployment of highway patrol vehicles to boost security operations along the Yeji-Kumasi stretch and its surroundings.
Speaking with the media, Kwaku Boam welcomed the move and commended the Ministry’s efforts. He said the intervention brings some relief to residents who live in constant fear of using the road.
According to the MP, he is confident that the deployment of security officers and patrol vehicles will significantly help reduce the crime rate in the area.
