Ghana National Sports Authority chairman Hon. Robert Sarfo Mensah has raised the bar with a target of winning five medals at the forthcoming 2018 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Gold Coast, Australia from April 4 to April 15.
According to Hon. Mensah, the nation has made positive strides at the Games in the past and it’s time for athletes to continue that trend in the competition as he targets five medals.
“Our main target is to get at least 5 medals in the upcoming commonwealth games. Disciplines such as boxing, hockey, table tennis and the para events should give us a medal”- Hon. Robert Sarfo Mensah disclosed on Happy FM.
Hon. Mensah was asked when the athletes will leave the shores of Ghana to their camping base in Australia since some of the competing countries have already commenced fervent preparations for the tournament.
“We want to take fully fit athletes to Australia so our medical teams are doing all the necessary tests on them. The Athletes will be leaving for the commonwealth games next week “
