European football specialist, Reuben Obodai brings you first installment on how Ghanaian players performed in abroad on Friday and Saturday.

Jeffrey Schlupp came off the bench to score for Crystal Palace but his strike was not enough to save the Eagles blushes as they tasted their 10th league defeat at West Ham United.

John Yeboah Zamora and Charles Jesaja Hermann combined forces to help VfL Wolfsburg U-19 defeat Hertha Berlin U-19 3-1. The pair scored all the three goals.

Caleb Ekuban repeated last week’s heroics by climbing off the bench to score as Trabzonspor battered Konyaspor.

Reuben Obodai gives you a lowdown on how the players fared in abroad…

ENGLAND

Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp came on in the 66th and 76th minute respectively for Crystal Palace in their 3-2 loss at West Ham United. Schlupp hit the back of the net for the Eagles.

Dennis Odoi played full throttle for Fulham FC when they lost 4-1 to Manchester United.

Huddersfield Town lost 1-0 to Arsenal. Collin Quaner missed the game for the losers.

In the Championship, Andy Yiadom played full throttle for Reading FC when they lost 2-0 to Sheffield United.

Aston Villa played 2-2 with West Bromwich. Albert Adomah missed the game for Villa through injury.

In the League One, AFC Wimbledon played a pulsating 1-1 draw with Rochdale. Kwesi Appiahmissed the game for Wimbledon.

Immanuelson Duku was not part of Bat net’s team that lost 1-0 to Ebbsfleet Town.

Joe Dodoo played 75 minutes for Blackpool FC when they defeated Charlton Athletic 2-1. Tarique Fosu played 46 minutes for the losers while Brandon Wiredu was missing in action for them.

Alex Addai played the last 29 minutes of the game for Cheltenham and was booked when they defeated Grimsby 2-1. 

Nortey Nortei came on in the 71st minute for Dover Athletic when they won 2-1 against AFC Fylde.

Bernard Mensah warmed the bench for Lincoln City when they defeated Stevenage 1-0. 

Nana Ofori Twumasi played 90 minutes and was booked for Maidenhead when they lost 1-0 to Hartlepool.

Kwame Thomas watched from the bench as Solihull Moors drew 2-2 with Sutton United.

SPAIN

Thomas Partey picked a booking for Atletico Madrid in their 3-0 win over Deportivo Alaves. Mubarak Wakaso was substituted at half time for the losers. Patrick Twumasi was left out of the losers matchday squad.

In the Segunda Division, Real Oviedo lost 2-1 to Almeria. Richard Boateng was part of the victors team.

Yaw Yeboah lasted 89 minutes for CD Numancia in their 2-2 draw at Deportivo La Coruna.

ITALY

Kwadwo Asamoah lasted the entire duration of the game for Inter Milan when they lost 1-0 to Juventus in the Derby de Italia.

Rahman Chibsah played full throttle for Frosinone Calcio when SS Napoli thrashed them 4-0.

In the Serie B, Bright Addae was booked and substituted in the 84th minute for Ascoli when they lost 1-0 to Venezia.

Emmanuel Gyasi played full throttle for Spezia when they thrashed Cosenza 4-0.

FRANCE

Grejohn Kyei scored for RC Lens in their 4-2 win over Versailles in the French Cup.

GERMANY

Derrick Luckassen couldn’t play a part for Hertha Berlin due to injury as they pipped Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 at home.

Kasim Nuhu watched from the bench for TSG Hoffenheim in their 2-2 draw with VfL Wolfsburg.

Schalke 04 lost 2-1 to Borussia Dortmund. Baba Rahman missed out again for the losers.

In the Bundesliga II, David Atanga played 32 minutes for Greuther Furth when they lost 5-0 to Aue.

Christopher Adjei Antwi played full throttle for SC Paderborn 07 when they lost 1-0 to Hamburger SV. Bernard Tepketey was not part of the losers team.

Kwame Yeboah was an unused substitute for Fortuna Koln when they played goalless with Munich 1860.

Steffan Nkansah played 90 minutes for Eintracht Braunschweig when they won 1-0 to Hallescher. Manu Marvin Braydon played 74 minutes for the losers.

Gyau Joseph-Claude played 21 minutes for Duisburg when they lost 4-1 to Heidenheim.

German born Ghanaian midfielder Kevin Weidlich played 90 minutes for Energie Cottbus when they lost 2-0 to Uerdingen.

Daniel kofi Kyere played 45 minutes for Wahen when they lost 2-1 to VfL Osnabruck.

John Yeboah Zamora netted twice while Charles Jesaja Hermann scored one for VfL Wolfsburg U-19 side in their 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin U-19.

THE NETHERLANDS

AZ Alkmaar defeated Sittard 3-0. Myron Boadu missed the game for the victors due to injury.

PSV defeated Excelsior 6-0. Cody Gakpo was not included in the victors squad.

Leeroy Owusu played full throttle for Graafschap when they played goalless with Den Haag.

In the Eerste Division, Rodney Antwi warmed the bench for FC Volendam when they lost 2-1 to FC Twente. 

Kelvin Luckassen returned from suspension to cameo for Almere City as they were thrashed 6-1 at Sparta Rotterdam.

Asumah Abubakar was introduced in the 83rd minute for Maastricht in their 3-1 loss at Waalwijk.

ALBANIA

Vincent Atinga and Winful Cobbina played as FK Tirana walloped Kastrioti 4-0.

AUSTRIA

Seth Painstil missed Admira Wacker’s game against Red Bull Salzburg due to injury. The game ended 2-2.

LASK Linz drew 1-1 with AC Wolfsburger. Samuel Tetteh was not part of LASK’s team. 

BELGIUM

Joseph Aidoo played 90 minutes while Joseph Painstil warmed the bench for KRC Genk when they played a pulsating 1-1 draw with Kortrijk. Bernard Kumordzi also played 90 minutes for Kortrijk.

Waasland-Beveren defeated Club Brugge 2-1. Nana Opoku Ampomah played 89 minutes for the victors.

Samuel Asamoah 90 minutes and was booked for Sint Truiden when they played a pulsating 1-1 draw with Standard Liege.

In the Proximus League, Ernest Agyiri played 71 minutes for Tubize when they lost 5-2 against Beerschot Wilrijk. Devine Naah watched from the bench of the losers.

CROATIA

Obeng Regan played 80 minutes for Istra 1961 when they lost 3-1 to Hajduk Split. Said Ahmedwas not in the victors team. 

Maxwell Acosty Boadu cameoed for NK Rijeka when they won 3-0 against Lokomotiva Zagreb.

CZECH REPUBLIC

Emmanuel Antwi played 90 minutes for Pribram when they defeated Dunlap Prague 2-1. He registered an assist for his side’s second goal.

DENMARK

Hobro IF played goalless with Sonderjyske. Yaw Amankwah played full throttle for IF Hobro. Collins Tanor missed the game for Hobro through injury.

HUNGARY

Abraham Frimpong was not in the squad of Ferencvaros when they won 3-2 against Mazokovesd-Zsory. 

Reagy Ofosu played 45 minutes for Haladas when they lost 4-0 to MTK Budapest.

INDIA

Daniel Addo played 90 min for Gokulam when they lost 3-1 to East Bengal

Augustine Okrah did not play for North East Utd when they played goalless draw with ATK

MONTENEGRO

Alex Yamoah did not play for Zera when they played goalless draw with OFK Petrovac.

PORTUGAL

Kwame Nsor played 90 min for Academic Viseu when they played 0-0 with CD Cova Piedade.

Ofori Lawrence played 72 minutes for Leixoes when they lost 1-0 to Famalicao.

QATAR

Lawrence Quaye played full throttle for Umm-Salal when they were humiliated 3-0 by Al Arabi at home.

RUSSIA

Rabiu Mohammed return from injury to warm  the bench for Anhzi Makhachkala in their 3-0 defeat at home to Spartak Moscow.

SERBIA

Richmond Boakye Yiadom played 15 minutes for Red Star Belgrade as they won 3-0 to Napredak. Rashid Sumaila was not included in the victors match day squad.

SCOTLAND

Thomas Agyapong missed Hibernian’s 1-0 win over Hamilton. German born Ghanaian defender, Lennard Sowah played full throttle for the losers.

Hearts of Midlothian defeated Motherwell 1-0. Danny Amankwah did not make the victors squad.

In the Championship, Prince Buaben warmed the bench for Falkirk FC when they played a pulsating 2-2 draw with Alloa Athletic.

SLOVENIA

Eric Boakye played full throttle for NK Olimpija Ljubljana when they defeated ND Gorica 3-1. Kingsley Boateng played the last 4 minutes for the victors.

SLOVAKIA

Mitch Apau scored third league goal for Slovan  Bratislava in their 5-2 win over MSK Zilina. Benson Anang lasted 79 minutes for the losers.

Sadam Sulley was taken off at half time for Michalovce in their 1-0 victory over Podbrezova.

Patrick Asmah was left out of FK Senica’s matchday squad in their goalless draw with Ruzomberok.

Osman Bukari played 76 minutes for AC Trencin in their 3-1 defeat to Spartan Trnava.

SWITZERLAND

Majeed Ashimeru played 90 minutes for St. Gallen when they defeated Xamax 3-2.

Gregory Kwesi Wuthrich missed Young Boys 3-2 win over FC Thun through injury.

TURKEY

Isaac sackey played 90 minutes and was booked for Alanyaspor when they played goalless with Besiktas.

Caleb Ekuban came off the bench to score for Trabzonspor in their 3-0 win over Konyaspor.

In the Lig 2, Jerry Akaminko played full throttle for Istanbulspor when they played 1-1 with Kardemir Karabuk.
