On this day 9 June 2014 (Exactly 6 years ago today) Jordan Ayew scored his first hat-trick for Ghana as the Black Stars thumped South Korea 4-0 in the final warm up game ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Even as a substitute for injured Majeed Waris, the -then Socheax striker had his first shot deflected into the post before adding two goals late on in the second half.

Captain Asamoah Gyan continued his superb scoring form against the Asian side with a cheeky pass into the yawning net after running almost 10 yards.

On this day 9 June 2012 (Exactly 8 years ago today) Andre Ayew was decorated with the 2011 Footballer of the Year prize by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana.

The Ghana international beat off competition from Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu and Harrison Afful to win the annual award.

Andre Ayew picked the gong for his exceptional performance in the 2010/2011 season for both club and country.

However, Andre missed out of the night’s flagship award, the prestigious Sports Personality of the Year prize.

He was beaten to the award by two-gold medal Paralympics athlete, Ajara Mohammed while footballer Afful came third.

But the then 26-year-old Romanian battled back to take a see-saw second set against the US Open champion.

She then raced away with the third to win 3-6 6-4 6-1.

“I certainly didn’t expect to win; I’d never been past the fourth round of a major until that tournament, so it was a big leap,” Courier said. “Even getting to the semifinals was a big leap. It was a real learning process, and I was lucky to have someone in Joe(his coach) who had steered a novice through those pearly gates a couple years earlier, so that was massive to have on my side.”
