U-23 AFCON: Egypt beat Ghana to progress to semis

Ghana’s Black Meteors suffered a 3-2 defeat to host Egypt at the Cairo International Stadium in the ongoing Africa U-23 Cup of Nations.

Black Meteors captain, Yaw Yeboah scored the opening goal of the game in the 6th minute after connecting a cross from Samuel Obeng.

Egypt got the equalizer through striker Mostafa Mohammed as he directed the ball into the net from a cross which beat Ghana goal keeper Kwame Baah to make it 1-1 at the end of the first half.

After recess,Samuel Obeng capitalized on a defensive blender to score the second goal in the opening minutes of the second half.
He easily ran pass the goalkeeper to slot the ball into the net to make it 2-1 for Ghana

The Olympic Pharoahs launched a scathing attack on the Black Meteors and got the equalizer through captain Ramadan Sobhi in the 81st minute to square the game at 2-2.

The host got the winning goal in the dying minutes of the game through Ahmed Rayan’s, brilliant header into the net from a cross to make it 3-2.

Egypt have booked a place in the semi-final after this win.

Ghana will have to wait for the last game against Mali to secure qualification which will be dependent on the Egypt-Cameroon game on match day three.
