Unemployed Allied Health Professionals threaten nationwide protest over delayed postings

The Coalition of Unemployed Allied Health Professionals (COUAHP) has issued a warning of a nationwide protest if their long-standing concerns over delayed employment are not addressed promptly.

The group, comprising graduates from accredited allied health institutions, says they have remained jobless since completing their training and mandatory requirements in 2019. They cite worsening financial, emotional, and psychological hardships due to the prolonged unemployment.

Speaking at a press conference in Kumasi on Monday, May 26, the coalition’s Public Relations Officer, Hussein Abdul Baaki, emphasized their readiness to demonstrate if clearance and postings are not granted in the coming days.

He noted that repeated petitions to relevant authorities have gone unanswered, which they interpret as a sign of neglect.

The coalition also appealed to the government to act in accordance with its commitment to youth empowerment, pointing out that they, too, are part of the country’s youthful population.

Additionally, the PRO called on Garu MP Thomas Anabah to retract comments he allegedly made, which they say belittled the legitimate grievances of unemployed allied health professionals who have been awaiting posting for over five years.
