USA, Nigeria and UK lead top arrival countries in Ghana in 2023 - Ghana Tourism Authority Report

The United States of America is top on the top 10 chart of countries whose citizens came to Ghana in 2023, the Ghana Tourism Authority annual report has revealed.

Out of the 1,148,002.00 international arrivals in Ghana in 2023, arrivals from the United States of America contributed 13.16 percent of the total figure which was increased in the number of arrivals from the US in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Ghana’s West African neighbors, Nigeria has been second behind the United States for the 4th consecutive year on the charts for the highest arrival countries in Ghana according to the Ghana Tourism Authority.

Unlike the United States, the number of arrivals from Nigeria in 2023 which was 82,642 was a reduction in their 2019 figures 102,339. Nigeria also recorded 33,000 in 2020, 59,193 in 2021 and 72,789 in 2022.

The United Kingdom is third on the chart with 51,785 arrivals which made up 5.09 percent while Germany’s 2.45 percent which brought 24,926 arrivals in Ghana in 2023 appeared 4th.

Liberia’s 19,303 was 7th, 8th placed Netherlands brought 15,487 arrivals and 1 percent of Ghana’s international arrivals (15,487) in 2023 were from Canada.

South Africa who recently signed a visa-waiver agreement that allows for travel for periods of up to 90 days within a calendar year, for purposes of business or tourism recorded 4,263 arrivals in Ghana.

Two Asian powerhouses, India and China brought 23,878 and 19,725 arrivals which on the percentage chart was 2.35 and 1.94 percent respectively to secure 5th and 6th positions.
