A leading figure in the ‘Ken for Flagbearer’ campaign, George Ayisi, has reaffirmed the team’s confidence in Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s bid to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as its next flagbearer.
Speaking in an interview with Bismark Brown on Epa Hoa Daben on Happy 98.9FM, Ayisi addressed the growing list of public endorsements for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a key contender in the flagbearership race.
He refuted claims made during a press conference by former Adentan MCE, Ebenezer Doku, which suggested that all 220 former MMDCEs had thrown their weight behind Dr. Bawumia.
“They made up their mind that they were going to declare a holistic endorsement for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, but it’s not done that way. The entire caucus is supposed to meet and agree on that and officially come out with a statement that will indicate our holistic support,” he clarified.
Ayisi stressed that endorsements do not shake the Kennedy Agyapong camp, noting the aspirant’s strong bond with the party’s grassroots.
“We are not moved by endorsements. We are not moved at all because Kennedy Agyapong is a grassroots person. We only called out to the former MMDCEs because we respect them. The day we exercise our franchise on the ballot paper is what matters,” he stated.
