Researcher and NPP constituency treasurer for Fanteakwa North, Obiba J.K., has joined a host of executive members of the New Patriotic Party in demanding the release of Ashanti Regional Chairman Wontumi.
Speaking to happyghana.com, the party official described Wontumi’s detention as highly unconstitutional and a violation of democratic principles.
He expressed concern regarding the bail conditions given to Chairman Wontumi, describing the GH₵50 million bail with two sureties as excessively harsh. “We are asking President Mahama: in the five months that he has been in power, has he been able to generate such an amount?” he quizzed.
Executive members of the party are currently stationed at the Economic and Organized Crime Office, protesting for the release of Chairman Wontumi.
