Former Ghanaian footballer, Cofie Bekoe, says Abedi Ayew was instrumental in his football career, acting as a father figure to him.
Cofie started his football with Nania FC before travelling outside to continue his career.
Bekoe, a now retired football said the three-time African footballer of the Year impacted them with a lot of training and knowledge which shaped his life.
Speaking in an interview on Happy Sports with Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy 98.9FM, he said, “I pay huge respect to Ghana legend Abedi Ayew for the huge role he played in my life.
“When I was with Nania FC, it was the best team I played compared to the clubs I played for. Nania FC impacted me a lot. Abedi Pele gave me something that was more than money. It was precious. Pele was building us to stand the world and not only for football. Anybody who paid attention to what Pele thought.
“Abedi Pele gave me something which was more than money and life. He was building us to withstand the world.
Cofie who played with former Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe at Egyptian side Petrojet praised the talented forward as one of the best strikers he ever played with.
Bekoe is into full-time ministry now after retiring from football.
He had stints with Nania FC, Berekum Chelsea, Tema Youth in Ghana.
