YFM ignites Mensah Sarbah Hall Week with the ‘Returnova’ experience

Mensah Sarbah Hall came alive in spectacular fashion as Ghana’s number one urban radio brand, YFM, joined forces with the hall’s leadership to deliver an unforgettable hall week celebration dubbed ‘Returnova’ — a long-awaited comeback packed with energy, excitement, and impact.
Dormant for a few years, Sarbah Hall Week made a bold return — and YFM made sure it didn’t just return, but roared back to life, lighting up the entire University of Ghana campus with activities that blended community service, fierce competition, pure vibes, and a dash of Sarbah pride.
A Clean Start
It all began on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, with a symbolic clean-up exercise. At 8am sharp, the Vikings poured out of their rooms, brooms and tools in hand, to clean their surroundings, desilt gutters, and give the campus a well-needed shine. It was a true display of community spirit as they lived the mantra, “Cleanliness is next to godliness.”
The Battle of the Blocks and a Goat Up for Grabs
By Wednesday, July 16, competition fever took over the hall as the blocks locked horns in an intense football gala. The prize? Not your regular trophy — but a grand, brag-worthy, fat he-goat! The pitch came alive with cheers, chants, and raw talent as each team gave it their all. And as night fell, the energy didn’t stop — students battled it out again in indoor games, from Ludo and FIFA to karaoke and board games, before unwinding with electrifying DJ sets from Selector Danny and the ever-vibrant Adjeley-Bi Darku.
Cooking Meets Competition – And It Was Delicious
Thursday turned up the heat in the kitchen. In a cooking contest powered by Gino, six hall teams showed off their culinary skills with mouthwatering dishes like jollof rice with chicken, banku and okro soup, and yam with veggie stew. The panel of judges, including popular influencer and Sarbah favorite Ama Burland, had their taste buds put to the test! The day ended with a romantic “Movie in the Park” night at the East Gate — and the turnout was nothing short of magical.
Health First, Then Let’s Rave!
Friday was dedicated to wellness. With free health screenings — including eye tests, BMI checks, and blood pressure screenings — YFM and the JCR ensured residents could party with peace of mind. But when night came, the focus shifted to the legendary Sarbah Rave Night, the ultimate climax of the week. Students from across the university flooded the Sarbah quadrangle as DJs and hypemen turned the space into a vibrant sea of lights, music, and motion. The biggest surprise? A surprise performance by Afrobeats sensation Camidoh, who lit up the stage with back-to-back hits, sending fans into a frenzy.
To the Hills and Beyond
The grand finale on Saturday, July 19, was a refreshing health walk to Aburi. With music, movement, and aerobics, it was the perfect way to cool down, reflect, and stretch out the excitement of the week.
Speaking about the experience, Rev. Erskine, Programmes Manager at YFM, said: “Sarbah Hall Week was more than just a party — it was a celebration of youth energy, culture, and community spirit. YFM is proud to partner with institutions that empower young people to have fun, make impact, and create lasting memories. Returnova was a blast — and we’re only just getting started.”
For more updates and future collaborations, stay locked on YFM — the voice of the young and the young at heart!
