The Krontihene of Akyem Asuom in the Kwaibibrem Municipality of the Eastern Region, Nana Boadi Amponim Obodade III, has urged Ghanaian youth involved in illegal mining (galamsey) to stop and instead take advantage of the “No Fees Stress Policy” to enroll in public tertiary institutions. He believes education will help remove financial barriers and provide opportunities for all.
The government has launched the “No Fees Stress” policy in Koforidua, Eastern Region, a key campaign promise by President John Dramani Mahama.
This initiative aims to improve access to higher education, benefiting tens of thousands of students initially. Meanwhile, Nana Boadi Amponim Obodade III, Krontihene of Akyem Asuom, has urged Ghanaian youth involved in galamsey to stop and leverage the policy to enroll in public tertiary institutions.
He believes education removes financial barriers, provides opportunities, and contributes to national development. “By pursuing higher education, youth can acquire skills, secure better jobs, and improve their socio-economic status”.
The Krontihene’s call emphasizes education’s role in breaking poverty cycles and promoting economic growth, encouraging youth to prioritize education and seize available opportunities.
Nana Boadi Amponim Obodade III has advised senior high school students who will soon enter tertiary institutions to start preparing early to access student loans and leverage the No Fees Stress Policy. He emphasized that education is crucial for eradicating poverty and hunger, enabling individuals to lead better lives.
