The Ghana National Union of Technical Students (GNUTS) has condemned a violent incident at Bolgatanga Technical Institute that left six students injured and forced the school’s closure.
The unrest occurred early Friday, August 15, following the return of suspended students who allegedly led an attack involving stone-pelting, vandalism, and the burning of the school library and the Senior Housemaster’s bungalow.
In a statement signed by the Coordinating Secretary Saeed Zakarlyya, GNUTS indicated condemned the attack urging students to use the right medium to address their grievances.
“This violence endangers lives and undermines the very education we fight to protect. Students must express grievances through peaceful and lawful means.”
GNUTS urged parents and community leaders to support police investigations, as the alleged perpetrators are reported to have fled.
“We call on the Ministry of Education and stakeholders to restore damaged facilities quickly to prevent further disruption,”.
The union reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, discipline, and dialogue across all technical institutions.
