The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has continued his working visit to the Volta Region with a series of engagements aimed at strengthening collaboration with traditional authorities and assessing critical infrastructure projects under the Ministry.
As part of the visit, the Minister paid a courtesy call on the chiefs and elders of the Asogli Traditional Area in Ho, where he commended their contribution to peace, security and development in the region.
He underscored the importance of cooperation between traditional authorities and the security services in maintaining law and order, as well as promoting national unity.
Muntaka emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to deepening engagement with traditional leaders, noting that their support is vital in addressing emerging security challenges and sustaining the peace for which the Volta Region is known.
The Minister also inspected the ongoing Ghana Immigration Service Regional Headquarters project in Ho, where he received updates on the progress of work.
He urged contractors working on the project to ensure its timely completion while adhering to the required standards, stressing that the facility would enhance the operational capacity of the Ghana Immigration Service and improve service delivery in the region when completed.
As part of the tour, the Interior Minister visited the Ho Central Prison, where he interacted with prison officers and inmates and assessed conditions at the facility.
The visit offered him first-hand insight into the challenges confronting the prison system and provided an opportunity to discuss measures aimed at improving infrastructure, staff welfare and rehabilitation programmes for inmates.
Muntaka reiterated government’s commitment to strengthening the country’s security and correctional institutions to ensure they are adequately resourced to effectively carry out their mandates.
The Volta Regional tour forms part of the Minister’s nationwide engagements with stakeholders and agencies under the Ministry of the Interior aimed at enhancing security, improving institutional performance and supporting national development.
