Former Ghana international, Augustine Ahinful has indicated that, the creation of a technical and development committee within the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will be essential to the improvement of the national team.
According to him, the creation of the committee is mandatory and enshrined in FIFA’s regulatory body.
Using the recent revamp of the Nigerian football technical committee as references, he expressed disappointment with the GFA’s negligence in establishing such a vital group.
Augustine Ahinful indicated that he was once a member of the technical and development committee in the previous administration, “unfortunately the committee seized to exits in the current administration.

“Do we have a technical and development committee? According to FiFa, the country should have a technical and development committee. That is what we should be more concerned about. Because if the technical and development committee of the FA is there and even if they are supposed to have an agreement with the FA on the appointment of new members, then we would be able to understand the works and roles of the new appointment,” he told Ohene Bampoe-Brenya in an interview on the Happy Sports Show.
“I was part of the technical and development committee under the FA before in the prvious administration, I views were critically taken on board even at the time coaches were appointed, there were three members from the committee and the FA to deliberate on the applications and all that. The current board are not doing enough because almost 90% of the issues are technical. If you don’t appreciate the technical aspect how will you achieve success?” he asked.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed a four member technical team to lead the Black Stars in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Nigeria. Chris Hughton has been given the technical advisory role after much speculations indicated he was the man for the Black Stars coaching job, while Otto Addo assumes office as the interim coach. Didi Dramani and George Boateng are included in the group.
