Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings rallies youth to embrace discipline at job fair

The Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has urged young people in her constituency to be ambassadors of opportunity being provided them today by demonstrating discipline, preparedness, and a positive attitude as they seek employment.

She made the call while addressing participants at a job fair she organised to connect job seekers with reputable companies and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).

The event provided a platform for young people to be directly recruited by employers or be added to the YEA database for future job opportunities.

According to the MP, one of the biggest challenges confronting her constituents is unemployment.

She stressed that her role as a legislator goes beyond lawmaking and oversight, highlighting her commitment to being a true representative by facilitating access to employment opportunities.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings described the job fair as a proactive approach to bridging the gap between employers and job seekers. She emphasized that while many companies are in need of employees, they often do not know where to find them.

At the same time, many capable young people are searching for jobs but lack the direction on where to go.

She cautioned participants to take the fair seriously and conduct themselves professionally, noting that performance and discipline during the recruitment process could determine future employment opportunities.

She also urged them to avoid destructive behaviours such as substance abuse, which could hinder their chances at gainful employment.

The MP further encouraged individuals struggling with such personal challenges to seek help through the appropriate channels, adding that mental health plays a critical role in one’s ability to work and thrive.

She reassured participants that the companies present were legitimate, and that the job fair was not a political gimmick but a real effort to support youth development and economic empowerment in the constituency.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings noted that all efforts must be made to ensure young people are given the tools, guidance, and access they need to succeed.
