The doctors also expressed appreciation to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the hospital’s Board, management and other stakeholders for facilitating dialogue aimed at achieving an amicable settlement of the dispute.
The association further acknowledged the support it received from the National Executive Council and members of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), as well as several health sector unions and professional bodies, including the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, the Health Services Workers’ Union, the Emergency Medicine Society of Ghana, the Orthopaedic Association of Ghana, the Komfo Anokye Certified Registered Anaesthetist Association, the Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists and the Komfo Anokye Pharmacists Association.
The suspension brings to an end days of industrial action at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), which disrupted healthcare delivery and affected consultations and other medical services at the facility.
KADA indicated that engagements with stakeholders will continue as efforts are made to resolve the outstanding concerns that triggered the strike.
The industrial action followed the suspension of the Chief Executive Officer of KATH, Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo, after he announced the suspension of emergency services at the hospital.
