Maiden edition of Marina Family Fun Ride held

Lakeside Marina Park, has organized its first ever Marina Family Fun Ride. The Marina Family Fun Ride, is a cycling event held to celebrate fitness, promote cycling and foster the spirit of team work and healthy living.

The first edition of the Marina Family Fun Ride, saw participants cover a distance of 20KM through well mapped out routes within the Lakeside Estates.

Mayumi Shimura, was crowned the Fastest Woman of the day. The Fastest Man category was won by Samuel Duodou with the Mbaye family emerging winners of the Fastest Family category.

Director of Lakeside Estate, Salah Kwaku Kalmoni described the maiden edition of the Marina Family Fun Ride as an exciting event worth establishing as an annual one. “This is the first time we have organized the cycling event and we want to make it an annual event. From this day, we set aside every last Saturday of November yearly to hold the Marina Family Fun Ride.

He encouraged more people to pick up the cycling culture as the sport has been proven to help prevent strokes and heart attacks.

Officially unveiling the Gladiators Cycling Club branch at Lakeside, Captain of the Gladiators Cycling Club, Serigne Ndack Mbaye charged cycling enthusiasts, especially women to join the Lakeside Cycling Club. “We want families of Lakeside Estate to join the cycling club as we know being on the peddle is healthy. As a club, it is worth mentioning that we ride not for fitness only but also to undertake some charitable causes, including donating bikes to towns, villages around the country. Most importantly, we also encourage more women to join the peddle (biking),” he added.

Park Manager of the Lakeside Marina Park, Priscilla Ameni, thanked participants of the maiden Marina Family Fun Ride, and encouraged them to patronize subsequent events. With the Christmas season fast approaching, she outlined a number of activities the Lakeside Marina Park has in store for its patrons. From Friday, December 1, the park will host a special Farmers’ Day event. On Sunday, December 24, the park will host the LPM Festival 9 Lessons and Christmas Eve Wonderland Dinner with Karaoke. Monday, December 25 will host the Time with Santa Marina @LPM event and on Tuesday, December 26, the Xmas Pool Party with LPM with amplify the Christmas festivities at Lakeside Estates. Dance Fever Night (Live Band) and the Oops Sip & Paint event will be held on Friday, December 29 and Saturday, December 30 respectively.
