Life Patron and owner of Asante Kotoko, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has banned the club from signing any player for at least a season, according to Chief of Staff at Manhyia, Kofi Badu.

The club has signed and sacked fifty five players in the last three seasons, costing the Porcupine Warriors millions of Ghana cedis, with only the FA Cup and the Normalisation Committee cup to show.

According Kofi Badu, Manhyia is convinced there is enough quality in the current squad to compete on the domestic scene.

“Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has directed that the club should not recruit any new player for at least a season,” said Kofi Badu.

“The reason is to temporarily stop the player attrition rate and enable us to work with the current crop of players, who the Asantehene thinks have the quality to push the club to the top,” he added.

The Kumasi based giants outdoored their new nine member Board of Dirctors at the Sports Hotel in Asokwa on Tuesday morning.

The club used the ceremony to outline the goals and visions of the team for the coming years.

Dr. Kwame Kyei leads a formidable body which also includes former Sports Journalist Evelyn Nsiah, Alhaji Lamine and Kwadwo Boateng.
