A police officer with the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, popularly known as Tycoon, has been sentenced to life for murdering his girlfriend in Adum, Kumasi.

A Kumasi High Court, on Friday, October 24, 2025, convicted him by a 5-2 jury decision. Inspector Twumasi had earlier pleaded not guilty when he first appeared before the court on July 26, 2023.

He was found to have shot 26-year-old Victoria Dapaah, also known as Maadwoa, a mother of one, multiple times in the chest and abdomen on April 20, 2023, at about 9:50 p.m. in Adum.

The victim was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, but a medical officer on duty pronounced her dead that same night. Her uncle reported the incident to the police.

Following a targeted operation, police arrested the inspector at his hideout in Sekyere near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region.
