The Minority Caucus in Parliament has defended their recent protest actions, emphasizing their commitment to democratic principles and law-abiding conduct.

Addressing the media on Monday February 3, 2025, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, highlighted the NPP’s reputation for gentleness and stressed that their protest was a legitimate part of democracy.

“We are law-abiding, the NPP is known for its gentlemanliness. We don’t go physical, but we had to protest. Protest is part of democracy. It is our right”.

Addressing criticisms of their conduct, Afenyo-Markin urged Speaker Alban Bagbin and others to review the footage of the events.

“Mr. Speaker and all those who are criticizing our conduct on Thursday night should critically watch the tape, the videos. We didn’t set out to destroy public property, we didn’t set out to disrupt. We protested”.
