Akufo Addo’s address deepened the anxiety and hopelessness about Ghana’s future – Asiedu Nketia

The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has expressed disappointment with President Nana Akufo-Addo’s recent address to the nation, describing it as a display of hopelessness and a lack of understanding of the current economic situation in Ghana.

During the NDC’s recent press conference at the University of Professional Studies, Accra dubbed “The True State of the Nation’s Address”, Asiedu Nketia said, “We are all living the reality of the worse economic crisis in the nation’s history and there can be no denying of this. The President’s address only serves to deepen the anxiety, hopelessness and uncertainty about the future of our country.”

He further criticized the President’s speech, stating that it failed to address the root causes of the economic crisis and was only a “discredited attempt to evade the responsibility for the corruption economic atrocities that have led us to this depressing point.”

The NDC National Chairman also accused the government of being out of touch with the reality of the people and failing to provide any concrete solutions to the economic crisis. He added, “While they engage in vain glory, Ghanaians have to deal with the daily consequences of a collapsed economy.”

The NDC General Secretary concluded by invoking the words of the late Bob Marley, stating that the true state of the nation is well known to all Ghanaians, and those who have failed it are the ones who know it best.

The address from Asiedu Nketia comes amid growing concerns over the state of Ghana’s economy, with inflation and unemployment rates reaching record highs. The government has been criticized for its handling of the economy, with many accusing it of mismanaging the country’s resources and failing to address the root causes of the crisis.
