Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have rescued a man who was trapped inside an elevator at a hotel in Osu, Accra.
The rescue operation was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday, June 23, 2026, by a team from the National Headquarters of the GNFS, led by ADO I Yussif Yakubu.
According to the Service, a distress call was received at 1:44 a.m., prompting the rescue team to swiftly move to the scene.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found the man trapped inside the elevator after it unexpectedly stalled and the doors locked. The victim had been confined for about 15 minutes before help arrived.
The GNFS team successfully freed the occupant, who was found unharmed, with no injuries or health complications reported.
The Service commended the rescue team for their professionalism and swift response, while urging the public to immediately contact the GNFS whenever lives are at risk.
The GNFS emphasized that timely reporting of emergencies plays a critical role in saving lives.
