At least 24 civilians were killed and 19 injured in a Russian aerial bomb attack on the village of Yarova in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region on Tuesday, Ukrainian officials confirmed.
President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strike as “brutally savage,” stating it hit civilians as pension payments were being distributed.
“Such Russian strikes must not be left without an appropriate response from the world”.
Footage from the scene shows lifeless bodies in civilian clothing near a destroyed postal van and a children’s playground.
Ukrainian authorities have launched a war crimes investigation.
The attack comes amid escalating Russian military activity near the front lines in Donetsk.
